WHO AM I?
Hello! My name is Carter. I am a 17-year old American citizen and hope to travel all over the world one day.
Since a young age, I have always had a knack for geography, being able to name European countries and their respective capitals at age 2. I lived in Switzerland for a year, but mostly grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where I was exposed to nature and beauty. I studied Mandarin Chinese all throughout elementary and middle school and picked up Spanish from my part time job at a restaurant. Driven by my desire to use my languages and meet and discover new people and places, I hope to travel to every single country in the world. Each trip will be an opportunity to better understand the Earth and the past, present and future.
Even though I don’t work full time yet, or have enough money to travel freely whenever I want, I’m still using the spare money that I have to work towards this goal. If anything, it just motivates me even more to continue working to travel to as many places as possible.
The feeling of stepping off an airplane and arriving in a new country is exhilarating. A wave of excitement and euphoria washes over you as you realize you’re in an entirely unfamiliar place. Every destination has its own unique experiences, and I often find myself wondering why more people don’t take the opportunity to travel. The rush of discovery and lust for newness fuels my passion and drives me to keep working toward my goal of exploring the world.
Being from Kansas, a state often considered overlooked and boring in the U.S., it’s only natural that I crave the diverse landscapes and vibrant cities found elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Kansas—it’s just that the world holds so much more to explore. It saddens me when I see so many people never venture beyond their own state, missing out on the vast experiences the world has to offer.
WHY AM I WRITING THIS?
First off, I’ve always been passionate about writing, and this blog is my way of keeping track of my travel journey. Even if few people read it, I’ll have a digital record of memories to look back on. Maybe someday I can even look at these posts and laugh at my younger self.
I also have a love for languages and different cultures, and I see this blog as a way to document how I grow through travel. Each post is a reflection of my experiences and what I’ve learned along the way, whether it be navigating unfamiliar cities, learning new phrases, or simply embracing the beauty of nature and the outdoors.
I think writing down my travel experiences would also be a time-saver. Instead of telling the same stories over and over, I can write them down in one place to share all my experiences. That way, I can always point someone here when they want to know more.
There are many travel blogs out there, but I want mine to reflect my personal story, not just some random crap off the internet. I want to share the places and experiences that have left an impact on me.
Along with countries of the world, I will also be including tracking maps of all 50 U.S. states as well as other territories/islands. I may possibly include National Parks as well seeing as that could be interesting.
As I continue on this journey of exploring new places, meeting people, and learning about different cultures, I’m excited to see where this journey will take me. My travels may be just beginning, but every step is a step closer to fulfilling my dreams of visiting every country in the world.
